Activities and services
Some of the organisations on the Directory do not need to be registered or inspected by a regulatory body. It’s important that you are sure that the service is suitable for you and your family.
You could do this by talking to other parents using the centre or club and arranging a visit. A good service will make you feel welcome and should be happy to answer your questions.
Staff & Volunteers
- Are they suitable to work with children?
- Have staff been checked by the Criminal Record Bureau (CRB)?
- Have they appropriate qualifications or training?
- How will staff involve you and keep you up-to-date with your child’s progress?
Organisation
- Does it have a child protection policy?
- How does it deal with complaints?
- Are there staff trained to administer first aid?
- What arrangements are there for outings?
- What arrangements are there for children to safely surf the internet?
- Are parents encouraged to be involved?
